Ms. Valencia is admitted to the State Bar of California.  She practices Workers' Compensation Defense with the firm in the Santa Monica office.

Ms. Valencia is fluent in reading, writing, and speaking Spanish.

Mr. Van Kolken received his BS from California State University San Bernardino in 1993 and his JD from the University of La Verne College of Law in 1999. He practices Workers' Compensation Defense with the firm.

Mr. Van Kolken initiated his career in Workers' Compensation law prior to law school in 1991, on the Applicants' side as a Hearing Representative. He thereafter switched to the Defense after law school. Mr. Van Kolken is a California native, married with a child and dog; likes golf, running, biking, beach/mountain activities, and cooking.

Ms. Walker received her Bachelor of Arts from Stanford University in 2002 and her Juris Doctor from Golden Gate University School of Law in 2008. Upon graduating from GGU she received the National Association of Women Lawyers Outstanding Student Award for her class. She practices Workers' Compensation Defense with the firm and is also a member of the LFLM Diversity Committee.

Ms. Walker is an involved member of a variety of professional organizations including Stanford Professional Women, Queen's Bench Bar Association, Black Women Lawyers of Northern California and the Defense Research Institute (DRI) Young Lawyers Committee. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Lend A Hand Foundation, a local non-profit organization.

She has served on the Board of Directors of the Diablo Valley Industrial Claims Association (DVICA) for three years and is the DVICA President for the 2013-2014 year.

Mr. Ward comes to us with almost 20 years experience in workers' compensation, along with a corporate and civil law background. Born and raised in New York, he obtained his BA in Economics from SUNY-Binghamton, before driving across county and obtaining his JD from UC Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco. He has also extensively studied Human Resources and Business Management at Sacramento State University and most recently at University College Dublin's Whitaker School of Business and Management in Dublin, Ireland, where he resided with his wife. Prior positions include working for the largest public carrier in the state, as house counsel for a national carrier and at one of the prominent private workers' compensation law firms in California, where he acted as assistant managing attorney over two offices.

He has appeared at numerous WCAB's throughout both Northern and Southern California and has handled the gamut of complex litigation cases, including LC 132 (a), S&W, subrogation and appellate work. Mr. Ward is a California state bar certified specialist in workers' compensation law.

Ms. Wood received her BA from the University of California Berkeley in 1974 and her JD from U.C. Hastings College of Law in 1981. She practices Workers’ Compensation Defense with the firm.

Ms. Wood has 10 years experience as a trial lawyer in Superior Courts throughout the Bay Area, 18 years experience as a workers’ compensation defense attorney and  5 years experience in Family Law Mediation. Ms. Wood spent a year in Australia recently on sabbatical.  Personal interests include painting and running.
