Matthew J. Perkins is an Associate Attorney in our Sacramento office. He joined LFLM in 2017 and defends insurance carriers, third-party administrators, and self-insured employers in all areas of state workers’ compensation defense.
Mr. Perkins does the majority of his appearances at the Sacramento and Stockton Workers’ Compensation Appeals Boards. He has also appeared throughout Northern California (including San Jose, Oakland, San Francisco, Santa Rosa, Marysville, Chico and Redding) and as far south as San Luis Obispo. He has been practicing in the area of Workers’ Compensation law since 2011.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Perkins obtained his start in workers’ compensation as an applicant’s attorney for a year and a half at a large Sacramento firm that specialized in workers’ compensation matters and representing public safety employees. He also practiced workers’ compensation defense law for over five (5) years at one of the largest statewide firms in CA. Mr. Perkins decided to join the LFLM team after many years of admiring the firm – and the way its attorneys earnestly represents their clients – from afar.
Prior to diving into workers’ compensation, Mr. Perkins was also a Legal Research Attorney at the Superior Court of Placer County where he worked primarily on civil law and motion matters, writing tentative rulings, providing research to judicial officers and communicating with attorneys. He also interned in the Corporate offices of St. Jude Medical, Inc., and the chambers of Judge Anne McKeig of the Hennepin County Family Justice Center.
Mr. Perkins earned his Juris Doctor from The University of St. Thomas School of Law, and Bachelor of Arts degrees from Benedictine College in Religious Studies (2006) and Political Science (2007).
